CFinNC : (not a) Keynote

Update ColdFusion Builder Beta Settings for Flash Builder 4 Beta

If you have installed the ColdFusion Builder beta in stand-alone mode, I recommend you update some of the underlying settings before adding in Flash Builder 4 beta. The standalone install of ColdFusion Builder only requires 256MB or RAM. Which is all well and good for ColdFusion Builder, but installing other plug-ins like Flash Builder 4 beta ups the requirements.

ColdFusion 9 and ColdFusion Builder Beta Available

By now the ColdFusion blogosphere is buzzing with the news of two major milestones for the ColdFusion Community. First and foremost, the server they said could already do everything just learned a few more tricks. ColdFusion 9 offers advanced functionality, but its simplistic elegance makes it accessible to all level of developers. Not to be overshadowed, we also released the first public preview of ColdFusion Builder. For 14 years ColdFusion defined Rapid Application Development through its built-in services and language. Moving forward we hope to re-define RAD and push developer productivity to the next level with the combination of ColdFusion 9 and ColdFusion Builder.

Software Quality, Schedule and Features

Tom Jordahl told me that "Building software is a lot like making sausage. You probably don't want to see how it's made". To a certain level he's right. Like food, software goes through an incredible transformation before it's presented that's not always pretty. Software starts off with a grand vision where the possibilities are endless. Over time deadlines get closer and closer while specs get smaller and smaller and eventually you are forced to readjust that vision to fit reality. ColdFusion is no different.
